Before we dive into today’s topic let us clarify what is the meaning of the word fear. The meaning of the word fear in Hebrew means “To Fear.” This is for those who try to dilute the what fearing the Lord’s mean. I have heard so many preachers with statements like “fearing the Lord don’t mean to be afraid but to reverence him with awe.” Well to reverence the Lord means to Fear him.
Today Many people are learning about the grace of God before learning about the fear of God. We have to learn what it means to truly fear the LORD Jesus before we can understand and appreciate the grace of God otherwise we will get a false understanding of grace. “Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. 1 Peter 2:17” this is the true grace of God.
I use to subscribe to this saying, “God don’t throw people in hell.” Today I found that this is far from the truth. Matthew 10:18 “fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” God is the one who throws people in hell. Yes, our choices on how we choose to live our life here on earth cause God to decide our eternal fate. Nevertheless, it is He who has that power to sentence someone to that place.
The fear of the LORD is slowly departing from the church. Nowadays we serve God however we want to serve him and not how he requires for us to serve him.
In Jeremiah’s day the false prophets had the biggest crowd. The true prophets could nearly get people to follow. The fear of the Lord was so heavy on Jeremiah’s heart that he preached what was contrary to the false prophets who told the people what they wanted to hear and they naturally flocked. And when he would start to prophesied the true word of the Lord - the people said “can you get this guy to shut up? Can someone please get rid of this guy! We don’t want to hear what he has to say.”
You see, if you have no fear of the Lord you will invent a gospel that is convenient but because of the biblical illiteracy amongst the people of God they don’t know the false from the truth because only in God’s word will we know the truth. Amen.
The Bible makes it clear that there is a heaven and a hell. There is a day when we all have to stand before His righteous throne to give an account for our lives and there is a hell fire where there is weeping and wailing, snashing of teeth. Where the darkness can be felt and the worms never die.
As children of God we should live in the constant fear of the Lord. Knowing that one that we will all stand before his throne and we will be judged in perfect righteousness! The apostle Paul lived in the constant fear of the day of judgement. All that we have done in our body wether good or bad will one day come before us when we stand before the judgement of God.
Sometimes I wonder what that day is going to be like for me. All I can picture is being cast into hell because I know I have many short comings and only the grace of Jesus will be able to save me that’s if I find mercy before him.
Repent or perish, because that’s the whole Bible from the heart of God that some say He would never say those words. This is the message of the theologians today just so they can have a job. They don’t mind sending you to hell to keep that job.
If you live in a lukewarm and casual state. You are almost guaranteeing your deception. I would hate to die in that condition. Because in whatever condition we end this life or in the Lord’s coming, in that condition we eternally remained. There is no remedy but a finality and closure. Are you washed in the blood of the lamb daily?
You might say well I don’t like this Christianity.
Well I’m sorry.. it’s the only one you got.
I believe many Christian’s are worshipping a false God - a god if their imagination. More like a grandfather who just allows them to do what they like. That’s why we have so many sexual immoralities in the church today. That’s why so many are depleted by the lust of the eyes every day or involved in internet pornography. They are bored with the things of God. They have not learned they FEAR OF THE LORD.
Better is little with the fear of LORD Jesus than great treasure! Don’t play with the name of God if you touch or carry it.
This is where the devil have many of us deceived. A false freedom where all we think about is God’s love, God’s love, God’s love and you go through a whole year without hearing about the fear of God. After a time we become too friendly with Jesus that we lost our reverence.
Here’s what I think fearing the Lord means. That God is so powerful, so holy and true to his word that we would not even think about presumptuously sin and continue without acknowledging what we have done. It’s knowing that our very breath is in his hands and there is nothing we can to to be right with him except to fear and honor his words. It’s being afraid to be eternally separated from his love and awesome presence. I am so afraid to lose him. He is my only hope.
Tremble if you every feel like you would walk away from God. Because there is only destruction away from Him justAs written in Philippians 2:12–13
“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
2 Corinthians 7:1 since we have these wonderful promises. Let us cleanse ourselves from every filtiness not only from the outward things of the flesh but the inner things of the spirit. Our thoughts, attitudes , motives as much as our words and actions and how do we do it? With perfect holiness not in the fear of man but in the Fear of The Lord Jesus!
If you believe in the Fear of the Lord send this to someone else so they may believe too.
